The Casio PX130 is a keyboard to rival all others, or so I have personally found.  My first keyboard was hardly adequate enough for the purposes I had in mind, and soon found myself in favor of many Yamaha keyboards.  Until recently, I have never owned a Casio, but the Casio PX130 has proven itself to be more than worth every cent, as it has provided me with the flexibility, capabilities, and most importantly the sound I seek from a keyboard. The Touch Feeling of Casio PX130 The overall feel of the Casio PX130 is wonderful.  The keys, unlike most keyboards I have played on throughout my years, are not plastic feeling and are quite sturdy; they are the most comparable I have found to a traditional piano.  The response to touch the Casio PX130 has is fantastic.  While no keyboard will be able to produce the same dynamic response as a traditional piano, it is the most similar to. There are three differing levels of sensitivity response, so you are able to adjust to your comfort level at all times.  Of course, in comparison to a real piano, all keys will be slightly more soft handed, but the Casio PX130 provides its users with the closest level of touch sensitivity possible.

The Sound

The Casio PX130 has a sound to be envied by all other keyboards.  If you have heard a traditional piano, you will know what this keyboard sounds like.  While I do not claim to be an expert with keyboard sound, I do feel very strongly that anyone will be hard pressed to find a keyboard that has a sound even similar to that of the Casio PX130.  The speakers for the keyboard are beyond sufficient for all types of musical pieces, and will be sure to please you at every turn.

Those Extra Bits

Some of the additional features talked in this Casio PX130 review will certainly knock your socks off.  Other than the traditional piano sound, the Casio PX130 comes equipped with several other sound choices!  As I played each one, they sounded wonderful to my ear, and will have a variety of uses for numerous people.  The keyboard itself can be split to play two separate sounds at once, or you can even combine two sounds to make a new and slightly more complex sound. The Casio PX130 has a library of built in sounds accessible at a moment’s notice, but you even have the option of transferring in files from your laptop or home computer by using its USB connector.  With the added in ability to connect your home computer or laptop to the Casio PX130 keyboard, you will have the ability to record the performances directly from the memory of the piano straight over to your computer for editing and compiling in other programs.  The additional features of the Casio PX130 will keep you busy and entertained for days.

The sleek and versatile design is perfect for everywhere, as stated before, and is lightweight enough to be picked up and moved around frequently.    This added with the built in technologies allows you to experience it all with one low costing keyboard! Just like many other people, I bought this for use in my home.  At times my family finds it a disturbance while I play for hours at a time practicing on new pieces or just reading sheet music.  J For this kind of situation there are two headphone connections built into the Casio PX130.  Just plug in your headphones, adjust the volume and play away!  The reason the dual headphones are so useful, is that the duet mode is made excessively simple for both student and teacher, or just two friends playing.

The main samples on this piano are excellent. Casio has really come a long way with the Privia line and the modern grand piano voice (the default) sounds brilliant across the full range of the instrument. The less reverb’ed classic piano also sounds good. The 3 electric piano voices (including a very nice 60′s voice which sounds a lot like a Rhodes to me) are also quite pleasing.
